Since 2010, eight new parks have advanced in the Fifth District—four in Perry Hall, three in Towson, and the first new park in a half-century along the Loch Raven Boulevard corridor.

Parks are essential to our quality of life, providing recreational space, peace of mind, and often habitat for wildlife. I would like to thank our county and state partners and recreation advocates for all their support.

This April, we expect to complete the eighth new park in the Fifth District, Radebaugh Park, which will serve the densely-populated neighborhoods of eastern Towson. Improvements are planned or underway to existing parks throughout the Fifth District.

At Towson Manor Park, the county will replace and relocate a dozen benches, as well as the water fountain. The Overlook Park roller hockey court dasher board will be replaced and painted.

In the central part of the Fifth District, design work is underway for major improvements to Cromwell Valley Park. These include changes to the access road and parking areas, barnatorium renovations, and a nature pavilion. Construction is expected to start in 2022. Also, the multipurpose court was recently renovated at Carney Elementary School.

In Perry Hall, the artificial turf field is being replaced at Honeygo Park. Two fields at the popular Perry Hall Park are also being renovated.

In addition to these improvements, I am very confident the county will be able to purchase a new park property in the Perry Hall area in 2021, and complete a “land swap” with the state that will lead to greater certainty about the future of Kingsville’s Mount Vista Park.
