In 2011, I started a new tradition:  recognizing outstanding residents of the Fifth District as Citizens of the Year.  This year, I am pleased to acknowledge eight volunteers who have contributed much to our community.

In Perry Hall, we are acknowledging Bill Paulshock and Kelli Szczybor, leaders in the effort to build Angel Park.

In Parkville and Loch Raven, we are recognizing Jason Garber and Mandy Stepp, leaders in Loch Raven Village and Ridgely Manor.

In Towson, we are thanking Christian Estes, for his work in improving Burkleigh Square; Wendy Jacobs, head of the West Towson tree planting effort; Cathleen White, founder of the Baltimore Chapter of the Christ Child Society; and Ken Wetzel, the late Commander of Towson American Legion Post 22.

I would like to thank each of these outstanding community volunteers.
