WHITE MARSH AND MIDDLE RIVER

David Marks represented much of White Marsh on the Baltimore County Council from 2010 to 2014.  The most recent redistricting added this community, as well as Bowleys Quarters, Chase, Oliver Beach, Wilson Point, and other areas in Middle River.  As Councilman, David Marks is working to stop overdevelopment and preserve the open space and waterways that make this one of the most appealing regions in Maryland.

Improving Public Safety

David Marks pushed for the donation of land from General Motors that led to the opening of the new White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company in 2018.  He will work aggressively to build new fire stations in Bowleys Quarters and Middle River, and make every neighborhood a safer place to live.

Controlling Growth and Preserving Open Space

David Marks negotiated the agreement that will lead to a new 20-acre park west of White Marsh Mall, as well as the construction of a large section of the proposed Northeast Trail.  He blocked intense commerce development at Ridge Road near Rossville Boulevard.  Further south, he opposed the Planned Unit Development at the Lafarge quarry on Earls Road, and is leading the fight to preserve open space at the former C.P. Crane plant.

Protecting and Strengthening Neighborhoods

David Marks joined with community leaders to successfully oppose an organic recycling plant along Philadelphia Road, in a region already inundated with these types of industrial operations.  The Eastside needs more thoughtful planning and a focus on quality of life so every neighborhood remains a desirable place to live.  One of his first acts will be to introduce design standards for new construction in the Middle River area.

Improving our Schools

Working with other elected officials, David Marks secured funding to build Rossville Elementary School and the first middle school on Baltimore County’s Eastside in a half-century, on King Avenue.  A first-class school improves every community, which is why David Marks will work to build advance a new high school and to improve every school from White Marsh to Middle River.
