Redevelopment continues in Downtown Towson.
LA Fitness has announced plans to renovate 52,700 square feet of vacant retail space at Towson Commons. The old movie theatres will be converted into a fitness center that includes a stadium-style spin area, basketball and racquetball courts, an indoor heated lap pool, a whirlpool spa, saunas, and a babysitting center. I was in Towson Commons in December and was impressed with the level of renovation already underway.
With this announcement, redevelopment is underway in nearly every corner of Downtown Towson. Towson City Center is anchoring improvements in the north; construction continues at Towson Square in eastern Towson; and the Towson Green housing development is attracting homeowners in the south near Burke Avenue and York Road.
