Last fall, word broke of a settlement that would lead to the demolition of homes along Yakona Road that were affected by gasoline contamination. Since then, our office has been working with the Hess Corporation, area residents, and NeighborSpace of Baltimore County to determine the future of the area that will be affected by the demolition.
Eight months later, there is now a robust community organization in place, and we are close to a plan that will lead to the creation of the first park in the Loch Raven Boulevard corridor in decades.
There are still some hurdles to overcome, but I am very optimistic. I am also very proud of the work being done by the newly-formed Ridgely Manor Community Association. My hope is that the park, along with this association, will stabilize and improve this older neighborhood tucked between Joppa Road, Pleasant Plains Road, and Loch Raven Boulevard.
