On Wednesday, October 8, the Baltimore County Public School leadership held a community meeting at Perry Hall High School to address facility issues in northeastern Baltimore County. I appreciate Superintendent Dance following up on the request I made along with the Perry Hall Improvement Association.
School overcrowding has been a regional issue for more than 20 years. I appreciate the heartfelt comments from so many parents and community leaders at the forum. As the father of children at two local schools, I agree that relieving overcrowding must be a priority.
That’s why our office initiated a downzoning of more than 260 acres in the Perry Hall area in 2012, blocking development that would worsen overcrowding. Now, the challenge is to build the new schools to accommodate enrollment growth. I will do all in my power to get this done.
