On April 25, I had the honor to participate in the reopening of the Jericho Covered Bridge, which spans the Little Gunpowder Falls between Baltimore and Harford Counties. This is near the far eastern edge of the Fifth District.
As a child, I have many memories of visiting this part of Kingsville. At that time, the Jerusalem Mill was in ruins and the bridge was discolored and aging. I am so proud of the work that has been done by Baltimore and Harford Counties to restore the bridge, and by the state government and volunteers to enhance Jerusalem Mill Village.
The Jericho Covered Bridge was built during the Civil War era, and today it is one of Maryland’s six public historic covered bridges, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration. The $2 million renovation project will extend the lifetime of this iconic structure for years to come.
