I am pleased to announce that the occupancy rate at the Perry Hall Square Shopping Center has risen from 60 to nearly 90 percent in three years.
Kumon Learning School recently opened in a 2,660 square foot space near the bowling alley. This means that 88 percent of the shopping center is now leased, according to Kimco Realty, which owns the shopping center.
When I took office in 2010, we made the revitalization of Downtown Perry Hall a top priority. The County Council passed legislation that created the Perry Hall commercial revitalization district, which provides incentives to propertyowners, and our office established a committee to beautify and improve the area.
Over the past three years, we have had numerous meetings with Kimco Realty to see what we can do to spur redevelopment of this shopping center, the oldest in Perry Hall. I am pleased that this shopping center is nearly fully leased, and I look forward to further improvements.
