On April 5, animal lovers will meet to celebrate the opening of the Perry Paw Dog Park.   This is one of five new parks either finished or under development in the Fifth District.

What a great community project!

This was one of the first initiatives we developed upon taking office.   We put together a task force to determine the need for a dog park, and in March of 2012, secured approval from the Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks to locate this area at the eastern edge of Honeygo Run Regional Park.   Over the next year, volunteers helped raise $20,000 that was matched by county government.

As I said last week at the groundbreaking for Soukup Park, those of us in government need to engage the private sector to advance community projects.   That is what happened at the Perry Paw Dog Park.   I would like to thank all those volunteers who believed in this initiative.

Our family visits Honeygo Park frequently.  This will be a great addition to our local park network.
