Since taking office, our office has worked across party lines to make Towson a model for sustainability. Now, it is time to take Towson to a new level. Our Plan for a Greener Towson will provide the resources to create and improve new parks and recreation sites in Greater Towson:
- Boost open space fees for future developments to $2,000 per unit, and keep this funding in the Towson area.
- Complete four public projects already planned for Towson–artificial turf fields at Carver and Towson High Schools, the $4.2 million park at Patriot Plaza, and the $1.1 million purchase of a park site at the Radebaugh property in eastern Towson.
- Partner with NeighborSpace of Baltimore County on two more projects, the construction of Adelaide Bentley Park in Historic East Towson and improvements to the West Towson Trail near the Towson Y.
- Use money from open space fees and other sources to advance at least six new projects in the Towson area.
Additionally, I strongly support plans for a Towson Circulator and a Towson Greenway to improve mobility.
I would like to thank all those citizens and stakeholder organizations who testified on the need for greener policies in Towson. I would also like to thank my colleagues in the county and state governments for their support of key projects.
