In the next term, one of my top priorities will be to thoughtfully plan for the future of theĀ  C.P. Crane plant near Bowleys Quarters and Seneca Park.

From 1961 to 2018, this plant was a prominent landmark in eastern Baltimore County. The complex occupies 157 acres on the Seneca and Saltpeter Creeks, with Aberdeen Proving Ground to the east. The plant is located outside of Baltimore County’s Urban-Rural Demarcation Line. Demolition of Unit 1 is set for early July.

I’ve already toured the property with the current owner and made it very clear that I will engage the community to plan for the right uses at this site. It’s exactly what I’ve done with tough projects elsewhere.

My record on planning and land use is very clear.

I downzoned thousands of acres of land to protect open space and lighten development.

We advanced eleven new parks, from Towson to Perry Hall.

I successfully led the fight against a plan to dump wastewater in the Little Gunpowder Falls.

As Baltimore County’s representative to the Critical Areas of Commission, I understand the need to protect our waterways from harmful development.
