One of my priorities has been to help businesses and improve the look of Downtown Perry Hall, the area roughly centered at Belair, Ebenezer, and Joppa Roads. In 2012, the County Council passed legislation that created the Perry Hall commercial revitalization district, which provides benefits to businesses and grants to help with beautification. We got the derelict Poor Little Rich Girl building demolished last August, and just recently, began the redevelopment at 8833 Belair Road.
I am very pleased the demolition has started at 8833 Belair Road. We worked with the developer and the County Executive’s office for more than a year on this project. It removes a terrible eyesore on Belair Road, at the southern gateway to the revitalization district. The new retail space will include brick architecture and landscaping, as well as an entrance sign to Downtown Perry Hall.
I look forward to seeing the progress on this important project.
