The Cromwell Bridge Road corridor is one of the most scenic areas in Baltimore County. Cromwell Valley Park and Loch Raven Reservoir are not only renowned for their natural beauty, but they bring visitors who frequent area restaurants and other businesses.
The ridge line that stretches along Cromwell Bridge Road is in the Fifth District, and it has high levels of zoning that could lead to more homes and clear-cutting of trees. For this reason, I have signaled my intention to downzone about 167 acres of land to the lowest development potential possible. I have announced other zoning recommendations as well.
In Perry Hall, I support downzoning a 19-acre site at Joppa Road and Interstate-95 to Neighborhood Commons, or open space zoning. This will prevent any development at an open area central to the Moores Orchard, Moores Meadows, and Orchard Crossing communities. I also announced my support for open space zoning at a nine-acre site near Joppa Road and Perry Woods Court.
Finally, our office finalized agreements with two major propertyowners that will protect 29 acres next to Joppa View Elementary School and ten acres along Northwind Road.
This year, our office initiated a rezoning of thousands of acres to preserve green space and lighten school overcrowding. As the County Council prepares to vote on the zoning maps this August, I encourage you to stay informed about the rezoning process at our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/District5czmp.
