Labor Day Weekend was especially eventful for residents of the Ridgely Manor community as we opened the first new park along the Loch Raven Boulevard corridor in more than a half-century.
Ridgely Manor Park is a two-acre property at Yakona and Naturo Roads. It is perfectly centered to serve the dense neighborhood, which includes dozens of brick duplexes. The park is the result of a collaborative effort between the Hess Corporation, which acquired the site due to a legal settlement, and NeighborSpace of Baltimore County, the nonprofit that preserves open space and will own the repurposed property.
I am very proud of this project. Hess Coorporation, NeighborSpace, and the newly-formed Ridgely Manor Community Association did an extraordinary job planning and preparing the site.
When the park was announced as a possibility nearly two years ago, I described it as a catalyst for improving this community. It has done exactly that. There is now a growing neighborhood association where one did not exist before, and a beautiful park that strengthens and enhances the area.
