The impacts of the coronavirus shutdown have been staggering on many small businesses. Our office has done its best to encourage people to patronize local businesses, but many are simply closed or operating at a minimal level.
Baltimore County has created a COVID-19 Small Business Relief Grants Program, which will provide grants of up to $15,000 each to more than 650 county-owned firms. This funding will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis starting on Monday, May 11th, so businesses should be ready to submit as soon as an application comes online.
Funding for this program has been provided through the federal coronavirus stimulus package. I would iike to thank County Executive Olszewski and the Department of Economic and Workforce Development for creating this initiative.

Again, businesses should get everything ready so they can efficiently upload applications on Monday. In the meantime, please continue to solicit those firms that remain open – particularly small businesses – and to practice responsible social distancing.
